Fronts

What types of fronts do you offer?

Our fronts are made of 18 or 22 mm thick MDF boards .

For laminated MDF fronts, an environmentally friendly HENKEL water-based adhesive and PVC foil are used.

The same environmentally friendly HENKEL adhesive and environmentally friendly water-based paint are used for painted MDF fronts .

What is the difference between laminated and painted MDF fronts?

Laminated MDF fronts can imitate natural textures such as wood or stone, or can be in a single matte color. The PVC foil used is made from partially recycled materials and the adhesive is environmentally friendly, water-based.

The painted MDF fronts are colored with an ecological water-based paint. The surface is smooth to the touch. The paint used complies with European Union standards and has minimal emissions of harmful substances (with grade A+).

Fronts maintenance

How do you clean the fronts?

We recommend the following steps for cleaning the fronts:

Before cleaning, dust the fronts. Wipe the fronts only with a microfiber cloth dampened with warm water or a non-abrasive cleaning solution, exclusively intended for furniture cleaning. Also, the solution should not contain alcohol, acid, acetone, or other solvents!

Attention! Both synthetic and natural cleaning products can often be acidic (e.g., contain lemon extract, etc.).

It is forbidden to write on the surface of the protective film with a marker or felt-tip pen, as there is a risk that it may penetrate through the protective film and leave marks on the front surface. Remove the protective film from the fronts only after the assembly is completed.

What are your recommendations for maintaining the fronts?

  • We recommend that the temperature of the space where the doors are installed be between +10°C and +40°C and the air humidity be below 60% to keep the doors in the best condition.
  • In the case of freestanding range hoods, we suggest installing the upper fronts at a distance of at least 5-10 cm from the hood to protect the doors from the heat emitted by the hob.
  • We do not recommend writing on the protective film surface with a marker because it can penetrate the film and leave marks on the front surface.
  • We suggest removing the protective film from the fronts only after the installation is complete to ensure you have the coolest doors.

After what period of time do I have to change them again?

MDF doors only need replacing when we get tired of them or if they're damaged by external factors. Common examples include: the corner of the door was chewed by a dog, a child accidentally drew on the surface and the stains can't be cleaned, a heavy object fell on the door and caused damage, or the handle holes were drilled incorrectly during installation.

Generally, an MDF door, whether painted or foil-wrapped, can have a lifespan of 10-20 years, provided it is properly maintained and cleaned. However, certain usage or environmental conditions can accelerate the need for replacement:

  • Frequent exposure to scratches: For example, daily brushing against doors with objects like keys that touch the surface.
  • Exposure to excessive heat or thermal shock: Doors located near sunny windows without protection (curtains or drapes) can deform due to prolonged exposure to sunlight. Also, doors installed close to a range hood are constantly exposed to heat.
  • Extreme temperature variations: In situations where heating is completely turned off in winter for long periods, then turned back on to very high temperatures, the material can undergo changes due to repeated cycles of contraction and expansion.
  • Frequent contact with moisture: If doors are frequently touched with wet hands or wiped with excessively wet cloths, water can penetrate the material, leading to damage.
  • Use of unsuitable cleaning products: Acetone-based substances or other acidic solutions can affect the finish, and abrasive cleaning materials can scratch the surface.

To extend the lifespan of MDF doors, we recommend following the maintenance instructions, avoiding exposure to extreme conditions, and using appropriate cleaning products.

Between foiled or painted MDF, which one has a longer lifespan?

Both foil-wrapped MDF doors and painted doors can have a lifespan of 10-20 years, if properly maintained. The right choice depends on aesthetic preferences and usage conditions.

  • Foil-wrapped MDF:
  1. Good resistance to minor scratches: The foil-protected surface makes minor daily wear and tear less visible.
  2. Easy to clean: The smooth and impermeable surface allows for quick removal of dirt and liquids, without the risk of penetrating the material.
  3. Diverse range of finishes available: Offers a variety of wood imitations and textures, ideal for a decorative look where imperfections are not visible.
  • Painted MDF:
  1. Moisture resistant: The painted surface effectively protects against water penetration, preventing damage in humid environments.
  2. Heat resistant: It is more stable under conditions of prolonged exposure to high temperatures or steam, making it suitable for heavily used kitchens.

Conclusion:
Both options are strong and durable, with a lifespan of up to 10-20 years. Foil-wrapped MDF is an excellent choice for those who want varied textures and patterns, while painted MDF is ideal for a modern and refined look. The choice depends on aesthetic preferences and specific usage conditions.
